Abstract
Objectives: 1) To investigate some rates related to pain and herniated discs in the lumbar spine. 2) Evaluating the effectiveness of epidural injection therapy (EIT) in the treatment of herniated discs in the lumbar spine. Subjects and method: data analysis, calculation of rates associated with lumbar pain and lumbar disc herniation (LDH) in all patients examined in 123 working days. Evaluating the effect of EIT of in patients with LDH. Results: The rate of patients with pain accounted for 82.04%; lumbar pain accounted for 13.73% of all patients examined. Lumbar pain accounted for 16.74% of patients with pain. Patients with LDH accounted for 83.65% of patients with low back pain. The average age of LDH patients is 54.1; Average days of illness is 1.87 years. EIT is indicated in 59.77% of patients with LDH, an average of 2.45 injections per patient. The rate of patients with good results is 100% in patients with 5 injections; 76% in the patient with 4 injections; 61.33% in patient 3 and 22.55 and 10.14% in patient 2 and 1 injection. The number of patients with disease remission over 50% in patients receiving 3, 4, 5 injections is 100%; 2 injections reached 88.24%; 1 injection 43.25%. EIT shots 1 and 2 have the most disease reduction effect, the following doses have less disease reduction. Conclusion: The rate of patients with lumbar pain and LDH is relatively high in the neuro-pain clinics. EIT has good results and is safe in the treatment of spondylolisthesis.
