Tóm tắt
This study aimed to describe risk factors in women with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) treated with oral anticoagulants and to compare women within and beyond reproductive age. This retrospective cross-sectional study at Bach Mai National Institute of Neuroscience included women with CVT admitted from January 2022 to December 2024 and maintained on rivaroxaban or vitamin K antagonists. Of 167 women (mean age 44.0 ± 14.5 years), 77.7% were aged 18-50. Sex-specific risk factors were present in 34.7%, all aged 18-50; oral contraceptive use was the most common (24.6%). Anemia was found in 26.3%, reduced natural anticoagulant activity (< 60%) in 22.2%, and positive antiphospholipid antibodies in 3.6%. No identifiable risk factor was more frequent in women over 50 than in those aged 18-50 (51.4% vs. 26.4%, p = 0.004). In women with CVT receiving oral anticoagulation, oral contraceptives and pregnancy-related conditions were the main risk factors at reproductive age, whereas no risk factor was identified in half of those over 50, warranting a more comprehensive etiological evaluation.
