Abstract
Objectives: (1) Describe the situation of anxiety and depression in medical students on Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy. (2) Identifying a number of factors associated with anxiety, depression disorders. Methods: A cross – sectional survey was carried out on 483 medical students of Thai Nguyen University of medicine and pharmacy by using DASS – 21 questionaire and online interview. Results: The prevalence depression and anxiety was 31.4%, 42.1%, respectively. In which, mainly mild and moderate levels. However, there was also a small rate of severe and serious depression, anxiety (5.1% and 9.8%). Female, the early years of the course, and stress are factors associated with higher rates of depression. Meanwhile, high rates of anxiety are only related to the year factors and stress. Recommendation: (1). It is necessary to teach students on disease manifestations and regular psychiatric examinations for early detection and appropriate intervention and support. (2). It is necessary to strengthen measures to support students (psychological counseling, study counseling, program improvement, reducing learning load ... to prevent psychological problems in medical students.
